Internally, the tax department is split into three main areas: Business Tax, Indirect Tax and Global Employer Services.

Your role

Associate Directors own a portfolio of clients and are seen as the expert in their field. They lead and steer client relationships, service delivery and innovative solutions by bringing together multi-disciplinary teams to tackle some of our most complex client challenges.

As an Associate Director, you will develop long term relationships with your clients, actively contribute to the eminence of our practice by external knowledge sharing and investing time in business development, and have a focus on the stewardship of our people and the practice.

You will be a role model to others and actively create an inclusive environment of team working where team members feel supported in their personal and professional development. You will also be supported in deepening your own technical specialism, widening your cross service line and industry or market knowledge, and continuing to develop your stewardship skills.


• Leading and managing client relationships as well as services across a range of industry sectors and countries
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
• Responding to requests for proposals from prospective clients including risk management policy and agreed pricing
• Maintaining process documentation while continually improving internal and client processes
• Drafting engagement letters in accordance with the Deloitte risk management protocols
• Monitoring and reviewing work products (management and statutory reports) for a portfolio of clients
• Managing and supporting the work of junior team members
• Internal administration including client portfolio management
• Advising UK and international clients on statutory accounting compliance and wider business process solutions in finance
• Ad hoc finance project work
• To have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm's commitment to creating a more inclusive culture

Location: Bristol

Suggested work pattern: Permanent full-time / Permanent part-time

Your professional experience

To qualify for the role you must have:

• Professional accounting qualification, ACCA/ACA with 5-10 years post qualification experience
• Strong accounting technical skills (IFRS, FRS101, FRS102) and experience of statutory accounts compliance across a variety of GAAPs
• Excellent Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills with the ability to use accounting packages e.g. SAP, ORACLE
• Experience working with senior non-finance people within a dynamic, fast changing environment as part of a multi-functional team/project
• Excellent project management skills, able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy in work and attention to detail
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills as evidenced by contributing to proposals, planning, and networking
• Exposure to and experience with international clients
• The ability to analyse information, identify issues and prioritise them.
• Full travel mobility across UK (and, globally) and willingness to work at client sites
