Aviva has formed a Global Finance & Strategic Change ("GFSC") function, the purpose of which is to establish the foundations for driving, delivering and governing change globally throughout Aviva Finance. GFSC has setting up a portfolio of change programmes to build an integrated programme of activity in 2019 and 2020 that will support compliance with the statutory requirements of IFRS17 and to deliver "Better", "Cheaper" and "Faster" for the Finance function.

This is the global finance for the future programme (GFF) and an exciting opportunity to be involved with the programme which will craft the future of finance within Aviva.

This role will be responsible for supporting Governance activities within the GFSC team. You'll take care of risk management within GFSC.

What does the role involve?

After joining the GFSC PMO, you will support the GFSC Governance Senior Manager on the Governance remit to support the function. As the Governance Manager, you will be expected to engage with a variety of partners; the programmes, Company Secretarial, Legal and the GFSC Portfolio Management Office to understand the Risks GFSC are mitigating and supporting the programme in monitoring these against the defined framework.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the recommendation of the risk appetite in relation to Change Delivery Risk;
  • Supporting the monitoring and presentation of clear visibility of the adherence to risk appetite recommend ensuring that appropriate testing protocols and reporting are followed;
  • Facilitating where GFF has moved outside of the AFOs pre-set risk appetite to figure out appropriate remediation action and timelines and monitor these;
  • Supporting the development and executing the portfolio risk process within GFF;
  • Produce reporting associated to the portfolio risks for submission to portfolio level governance committees within GFF.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Highly developed stakeholder management / influencing / negotiation skills, and proven ability to handle a broad range of partners including senior management;
  • Strong written / oral interpersonal skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly and succinctly;
  • Strategic thinker who has ability to think ahead in order to pre-empt questions;
  • Strong academic record - qualified to degree level and / or with meaningful professional qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/IMC /CFA/AIA)
  • Experience of managing risk, design and implementation of controls solutions, and governance in a financial services company;
  • Experience in Audit / Risk / Company Secretarial backgrounds of a Life / GI insurance company desirable.
