The role:

Our Engineering Team, as part of a global matrix, is at the heart of the double digit growth delivered year on year by Dematic. Having the right resource, well trained and motivated, in the right place at the right time is therefore critical for our continued success.

The Senior Director Project Engineering will take ownership for this across our Northern European business by managing a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver a range of objectives. The Engineering Director works in close co-operation with Sales, Projects and Purchasing teams as part of our leadership team in the region.

As a senior member of the Northern European leadership team, the Engineering Director will also be expected to play a part in strategy development, sales support and ongoing customer support (in liaison with the Customer Service Division). The role will also be involved in promoting and driving standardisation within the global engineering team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Setting strategic plans, budgets and controlling mechanisms in division to deliver performance targets and provide effective development plans for engineering activities:
  • Management of a multidisciplinary team of engineers
  • Development and control of all staff in management area
  • Allocation of resources to projects
  • Technical sign off of projects at the sales estimation stage
  • Set technical standards for project delivery
  • Determination of technical architecture
  • Ongoing project design reviews
  • Delivery to budget and timescales
  • Driving a "Zero Tolerance" to potential quality failures
  • Liaison with product centres and Global Technology groups
  • Support Customer Services Division on technical matters
  • Adherence to all current Health and Safety legislation
  • Ensure adherence of team to all current legislation and business conduct guidelines
  • Provide direction and motivation for all staff members through role model leadership

About you:

This is a highly business critical position and requires a senior engineering manager with experience across mechanical and/or electrical design ideally from a projects based industry. You will be a degree qualified engineer, with the communication skills and gravitas to work strategically and deliver challenging projects on time and on budget. Critically you will look to the future in terms of team skills and resource management to ensure these match the ambitious growth plans of the Northern Europe business. Above all you will be results driven, engaging and enthusiastic leader.

Although the role will be based in Adderbury, travel to Dematic offices and sites across the UK, as well as wider travel across Northern Europe region (UK Ireland and Nordics) will be required.

Some international travel will also be required
