Due to an exciting time of growth for Acuity, we are looking to recruit a new Principal Consultant to join our permanent team.

Role Details

Established over 10 years ago, Acuity works with local and central government organisations, bringing a fresh approach to simplify complex business problems providing core services such as Programme and Project Management, Strategy Development, Business Change and Procurement.

Acuity is now looking for a dynamic and creative Principal Consultant to join its well-established Consultancy team. Working on a range of transformational projects for central and local government organisations, you will use your initiative and thought leadership skills to solve challenging and complex business problems. Strong communication skills are key, as we pride ourselves on not only defining and implementing strategic and operational plans but enabling our clients to visualise what the future looks like and establishing long lasting relationships.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate would have 5 -10 years’ experience working in the public sector, have strong business case and procurement experience in either a supporting or leadership role, be capable of dealing with complex situations and have demonstrable IT transformation skills preferably with knowledge of the IT supplier market.

Knowledge and Technical skills

  • Degree level education and 5 -10 years’ experience working with local/central government organisations in a consulting environment
  • Extensive experience of leading project and programme management activities, as well as independently solving complex problems using industry standard techniques (e.g. MSP and PRINCE2)
  • Procurement experience in a supporting or leading role (should include Business case, specification and procurement plan production) as well as Portfolio & IT Transformation Programme Management expertise


  • Ability to maintain a strategic business perspective whilst simultaneously managing project delivery
  • The ability to rationalise, negotiate and prioritise business requirements from multiple stakeholders to inform a realistic and achievable delivery roadmap, and resolve conflict between strategic and transformational business requirements
  • Ability to think and lead under pressure, during times of ambiguity, or within tight timescales

Interpersonal and Communication skills

  • Excellent engagement and advisory skills to generate commitment and motivation, and deliver embedded and continuous service improvements
  • The ability to articulate complex IT concepts in a way that is understandable by all levels of stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong creative problem solving skills – for projects where there is no rule book

You will initially be involved in the delivery of a series of existing programmes and projects and therefore demonstrable IT Transformation and Procurement experience is essential.
